Velvet Goldmine is a curated source for vintage and mid-century furniture, lighting, and decorative objects, with a focus on British and Scandinavian pieces from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
Every piece in our collection is selected for its design integrity, material quality, and condition. We source dressers, sofas, lounge chairs, mirrors, lighting, and original artwork — each item described honestly and photographed in full, including any wear or imperfections consistent with age.
What We Sell
Our inventory spans teak and walnut storage furniture, Danish and British upholstered seating, wall mirrors, pendant lighting, and original paintings. Many pieces come from named British and Scandinavian manufacturers active through the post-war decades of domestic production.
Where upholstery has been replaced, we note it clearly. Where original fabric or leather is retained, we describe its condition accurately. Dimensions are provided in both metric and imperial measurements.
Our Approach
We believe vintage furniture should be described as it is — not as it was new. Condition notes are specific, photographs are thorough, and descriptions are written to give buyers a clear picture before purchase.
Each piece is assessed individually. Surface patina, structural integrity, hardware condition, and colour are documented for every item listed.
Showroom
Our showroom is located in Pilsen, Chicago. Viewings are available by appointment on the second and fourth weekends of each month. All items can also be purchased directly through this website with shipping available across the contiguous United States.
